Visiting Sevite

Overview

Throughout the year there are seva opportunities at Gurudev Siddha Peeth for visiting sevites who are available to serve from one week to six months.

There are a range of visiting sevite positions, including administration, gardening, food services, cleaning, Information Technology, web production, and project management.

To indicate your willingness to serve as a Visiting Sevite please complete the following steps:

  • Read the Visiting Sevite Requirements
  • If you have children, read the requirements for Visiting Sevites with children
  • Complete and submit the (For Resident Indians Only) online application form.
  • If you are unable to apply on line, then please contact your area Applications Point Person to further assist you. You can find out who your APP is from your local center.

Requirements
Please read the requirements below before applying to be approved as a visiting sevite.

In addition to the skills and experience required for each seva position, visiting sevites in Gurudev Siddha Peeth must fulfil the following qualifications:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Fluency in English and/or Hindi the ability to understand and give seva instructions (written and verbal) and to share your sadhana experience in study groups, both small and large
  • physical ability to offer full-time seva 6 hours a day

Visiting sevites must also have prior sadhana experience, including:

  • a Siddha Yoga practice of at least 1 year’s duration
  • participation in at least 1 Siddha Yoga Shaktipat Intensive
  • participation in seva (in the past or currently) at a Siddha Yoga Ashram, meditation centre, chanting and meditation group or by offering home seva
  • an ability to demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the Siddha Yoga practices, particularly the practice of seva
  • an ability to demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to Siddha Yoga philosophy and culture
  • a strong interest in contributing to the work of the SYDA Foundation Gurudev Siddha Peeth and Siddha Yoga Sangham of India
  • a stance of studentship and a commitment to ongoing self-improvement, learning, and personal growth

Visiting Sevites with children
Families with children ages 5-9 years (running) can now apply to offer seva in Gurudev Siddha Peeth. For families with children ages 5-17 years the minimum period of stay is seven days.

Children ages 5 to 9 years (running)

  • May apply to stay in GSP outside retreat times
  • Must be accompanied by both parents throughout their stay

Children ages 10 to 12 years (running)

  • May apply to stay in GSP outside retreat times
  • Must be accompanied by both parents or at least one parent and a guardian throughout the duration of their stay

Children ages 13 to 18 years (running)

  • May apply to stay in GSP including retreat times (Except Siddha Yoga Family Retreat time)
  • Must be accompanied by at least one parent or a guardian throughout the duration of their stay

Parents accompanying children need to meet the Visiting Sevite Requirements
